Inci cosmetici. Li sai riconoscere? - Tre Pi Profumerie

Cosmetic ingredients. Can you recognize them?

In recent years, cosmetics has paid greater attention to the formulation of products on the market, allowing the customer to understand what they are applying to their face, body or hair, to avoid intolerances and in any case opt only for healthy solutions without contraindications. We therefore often hear about INCI, an apparently mysterious acronym which is nothing other than the acronym for *International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients*, the list of substances contained within the products , indicated with acronyms that can be recognised to avoid the most common errors.

Let's see in detail how to read the label of a cosmetic and understand whether it can really be beneficial and what characteristics it must possess to perform at its best without causing side effects.

As a preliminary step, consider that the list of ingredients is written according to the quantity of each ingredient contained in the product. Therefore, the ingredient contained in the greatest quantity will be in first place, followed by the other ingredients with an increasingly smaller incidence. Furthermore, the most common ingredients are listed in Latin; synthetic or vegetal chemical substances subjected to chemical transformation are indicated in English; vegetal extracts that have not undergone no chemical alteration they are indicated in English, with the name of the plant of origin.

Colorants are indicated with the acronym CI (Color Idex) followed by an identification number. Ingredients from organic farming are indicated with an asterisk (*).

One thing that should be noted on a product label is the presence of specific organic certifications approved by European regulations, such as Ecocert or Icea, which attest that the product is free from substances chemicals that are harmful to humans, animals and the environment. The side effects of a wrong cream or makeup are often not noticed in the very short term but can appear later, so the risk is to continue using it without realizing that you are harming your skin.

In general, ingredients that should be avoided are petrolatum (such as paraffin), parabens (ingredients ending in paraben), silicones (such as dimethicone) and PEGs (ingredients derived from petroleum, indicated by the acronym PEG followed by a number), aluminum salts or surfactants (such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate).

Furthermore, it is advisable to have at least a superficial knowledge of the nomenclature, differentiating the acronyms and attributing the correct meaning. For example, if a lotion is indicated as ecological, it means that it has been conceived with respect for the surrounding environment, but this does not mean that it is made exclusively with natural ingredients, since this condition must be specified with a different combination of letters. The organic version of a product, on the other hand, requires that it is composed mostly of plant ingredients, but it is not certain that these are the totality or that chemical additions have not been made. Knowing how to read the list of ingredients correctly means avoid a wide range of allergies , especially for those individuals who tend to suffer from this condition.

There are currently several specific apps that allow you to download the barcode and read the INCI code through a series of parameters, giving it a rating from 1 to 5 so you can quickly understand whether or not to buy the cosmetic (example INCI Beauty).

Shampoo good inci

Shampoo is the basis of hair hygiene, but not only that. Modern products, in fact, are not only concerned with removing dirt, but also with providing the proper hydration for the hair , treating it in the best way depending on its consistency. Oily hair, for example, will need some specific ingredients to limit the production of sebum without drying it, for example by adding a discrete component of clay. Those who suffer from red and flaky skin, on the other hand, can opt for the benefits of aloe vera, which has the task of soothing and hydrating, without causing allergies or irritation. In your list of elements you can't miss a component of water, while it would be preferable avoid the presence of sulphates, colourings, preservatives and parabens , which in the long run could be harmful to health. Generally speaking, the more organic the product, the less likely it is that the body will react negatively.

Shampoo Franck Provost inci

Provost shampoos, for example, are made up of good INCI, since the manufacturing company makes the search for the perfect formulation one of its strong points.

Specifically, the shampoo Expert Nutrition contains Water in first place and is enriched with shea butter and glycerin to protect the hair and strengthen the hair fiber.

Good inci shower gel

Shower gel is one of the most used products, which treats the entire skin of the body, even touching the most sensitive areas. For this reason, it must have a formulation capable of hydrating and not drying, maintaining a neutral pH to treat all types of skin. Avoid overly intense fragrances or the presence of artificial colorants, in favor of a selection of organic ingredients such as aloe vera or shea butter. Corn starch or rice powder, for example, have an illuminating action and transform the skin into a silky expanse to be caressed.

Very interesting for example is the Equilibra shower gel with sweet almonds, formulated without parabens, allergens and surfactants, respects the structure of the epidermis providing its beneficial effects and nourishing the skin.

Face cream good inci

Facial care is a practice that should start early, as preventing the appearance of wrinkles and discoloration is better than treating them when they are already localized. Even in this case, however, it is advisable to pay close attention to the list of ingredients present in a product, as it is a delicate area. Those who suffer from oily skin and notice the appearance of small pimples, should not have among the ingredients any aggressive agent , since it is a suffering skin that requires a delicate but targeted treatment, based on substances that soothe and dry, regulating the production of sebum which is however essential for the softness and elasticity of the skin. Dry skin, on the other hand, will have a greater need for nourishment and therefore green light to a richer formulation, based on butter and essential oil. Limit the presence of sulphates, indicated with the acronym SO2-4, which in the long run can be harmful to the body. Very interesting in this sense is the Arval line, which takes care of the face and erases the signs of aging with an excellent Inci value.

Good foundation inci

Foundation is the basis of make up and must guarantee an optimal effect throughout the day, smoothing the skin and erasing discolorations. However, how many times does it happen that the wrong product is not effective enough or generates side effects by excessively closing the pores? Analyzing the Inci code, therefore, it is important to verify that the presence of silicone is limited, as the initial effect can also be lifting, but in the long run the film that is created does not allow the skin to breathe in the correct way. Furthermore, it limits as much as possible the intense fragrances , which can irritate the skin on the face which is usually much more delicate and subject to allergies than the skin on the rest of the body.
