La casa di moda Thierry Mugler si ispira al nome del suo fondatore. Thierry Mugler è nato a Strasburgo il 21 dicembre del 1948 ed è divenuto stilita e fotografo francese. Inizia la sua carriera lavorando come vetrinista e nel tempo libero si esercita a disegnare abiti . Nel 1973 riesce a realizzare la sua prima linea di abbigliamento e crea il proprio brand nel 1975. Il suo stile diventò molto famoso in quegli anni e fu fonte di ispirazione anche in altri campi e viene ricordato soprattutto dai corsetti che indossava Madonna durante i suoi concerti. Nel 1990 con la collaborazione con il gruppo Clarins venne introdotta la linea di profumi di Thierry Mugler. Il lancio di Angel, la prima fragranza Gourmand, fu lanciata sul mercato solamente nel 1992. La prima fragranza maschile ideata dalla casa di moda fu introdotta sul mercato solo nel 1996, con la creazione e la vendita di A*men. Altre fragranze che si sono susseguite furono Mugler Cologne Womanity ed Alien. Nel 2007 anche per Alien ed Angel viene emessa sul mercato la presenza della fonte doppia che consente di ricaricare le fragranze.
